A power or riser recliner is a mains-powered appliance with a motor and a moving footrest and backrest — plug it into a suitable socket, route the lead clear of the mechanism, and keep fingers, children and pets away from the footrest, the gaps and the pinch points while it moves. Keep the stated clearance behind a recliner for the backrest to tilt, keep to the maximum user weight, and never let children play on or under it or sit on the footrest. A manual recliner's mechanism is spring-loaded — operate it in a controlled way. Assemble to the instructions; heavy chairs and sofas are a two-person job. CE marked where applicable.
